+ What we do...

With over 10 years of experience in carefully selecting and acquiring motorcycles in the UK, we are in a position to say that we can provide with confidence any kind of information that you are looking for.

If you need help in buying or transporting a motorbike, in the UK or in Greece, we will do our best to provide a competitive service at an affordable price.

We can carry out all the following steps:

  • Check paperwork, engine and chassis numbers, HPI conifrmation
  • Payment
  • Transportation from the UK to Greece or Greece to UK
  • Importing procedure and obtaining a Greek number plate, or exporting from Greece.

Therefore, Kamikaze Motorcycles can act as an intermediary at all stages.

+ Import a motorcycle from Greece: Services

1. Inspection: Checking the chassis/engine numbers are genuine, not tampered with and in agreement to the logbook. Checking for accident damages/scratches/wear/ oxidization/good working order. Start the engine and listen for any obvious rattle, leaks, fumes or anything out of order. Inspect the overall condition of consumables like tyres/sprockets/chain/brakes etc. See possible past change of colour in bodywork or frame, any visible welding in the frame, use of non-OEM parts, or signs of past accidents.

2. Paperwork: Inspect the logbook and all relevent documentation available are genuine and all numbers and names match. Apply to the greek DVLA (Ministry of Transport) for an Export Certificate or similar documentation showing Chassis No and other identification, so the bike could be re-registered in the UK if needed. Get a proper receipt/invoice from the owner with the exact details of both parties in english, again mainly to help re-registering the bike in the UK. If applicable, check for a Certificate of Conformity.

3. Payment: The buyer can pay the value of the motorcycle to our UK business account in sterling. We take care of the international transfer and also pay the seller in cash or bank transfer according to his preference.

The buyer gets a full report of the inspection before commiting to the sale, however no guarantees are given or implied on the actual used bike which is sold as seen. The inspection is paid in advance whether the sale goes through or not. The payment of the motorcycle is also paid in advance.

4. Transport: The storing facilities of the haulage company in the outskirts of Athens cover a large area and is split to 4 large depots. It is fully insured and has a 24hr closed circuit CCTV. It provides a safe and dry environment for all motorcycles waiting to be moved to the UK. The lorries depart every Friday and the trip form the Greece to UK takes about 6 days.

After the arrival in the UK, the vehicle is unloaded and kept in a safe storage house inBasildon, Essex. This is part of an industrial park and cover an area of 120,000 sq/ft. The bike can be collected by the customer one day after it arrives in the UK. Alternatively a delivery to the desired location can also be arranged. In case the vehicle cannot be collected immediately, the storage facility offers short or long term rates. Give us a call for a quote.

Customer communication is very important to us. You can choose the preferred method to do so (phone, email or by appointment) in order to get a full report about the procedure or the status of your order.

VOSA, MOT, Kamikaze Motorcycles: αγορά μοτοσικλέτας από Μεγάλη Βρετανία / Αγγλία
MOTs:

British Legislation is quite strict when it comes to assessing the condition of vehicles. MOT certificates in Britain are compulsory for all vehicles every year and carried out by VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency).

This applies to vehicles 3 years after they are first registered. MOT certificates confirm the mileage of a motorcycle as this is recorded on the test report. Most owners keep a record of these so that they can verify the mileage of their vehicles.

Αντιπροσωπείες: Kamikaze Motorcycles: αγορά μοτοσικλέτας από Μεγάλη Βρετανία / Αγγλία

Dealers:

Dealers follow closely all recalls announced by the manufacturers. All owners affected receive a letter explaining in detail the reason and the purpose of the recall. If the vehicle needs to be checked and/or a part replaced they will be notified in detail about where and when this will take place.

Vehicle History:

For peace of mind the detailed history of a vehicle can be looked up for a small fee. This is possible since there is a data bank that collects information from the following sources.

  • Insurance companies
  • the DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency)
  • Police records.

Gathering all this information together shows clearly key information regarding:

  • Registration Number and Chassis number validity
  • Possible colour change
  • Number of previous owners
  • Road accidents, theft or fire as well as the category of the damage occurred
  • Outstanding finances that could affect the ownership
  • Country of origin i.e. if the bike is coming from the UK market or if it was imported from another country
  • The address of the person that is shown as the Registered Keeper on the Registration documents.

Inspections

We have an extensive experience in acquiring motorcycles from the UK market. Nevertheless, we always want to safeguard our customers from nasty surprises by following a series of checks.

  1. HPI Check: A HPI Check can identify if a vehicle has outstanding finance, is stolen, written off or clocked i.e. if the speedometer display has been changed.
  2. Vehicle Registration Documents: Check the authenticity of the logbook as well as cross checking the age, chassis number, engine number and the registered keeper’s details.
  3. MOT Records: Study the MOT receipts in order to confirm the mileage
  4. Service History: The service book again holds all maintenance history and is a key indication of the condition. Is another source to confirm the mileage of the vehicle.
  5. Frame No: Inspecting the frame number for any marks or signs of tampering.
  6. Actual Condition: Make sure that the condition of the bike is a good representation of the mileage. Check the roadworthiness, signs of wear, non-original parts, repairs etc
  7. Customer Communication: We contact the potential buyer and describe in detail the condition of the bike and/or provide information about specific requests by the customer. If the prerequisites discussed are not met and after assessing the situation with the customer we do not proceed with the purchase.
Acquittance, Agreement, Settlement: All relevant documents are filled in with the last owner present. Payment is made and documents are then sent to the DVLA.

Motorcycle Transportation

Equipment: Our vehicles are fully equipped with all the necessary equipment to ensure a safe transit (ramps, ratchet straps, blankets, foam padding, wheel chocks etc)

Insurance: Within the UK, we are covered by £50k worth of GIT insurance per vehicle and up to £18k per motorcycle. As far as the UK to Greece ot Greece to UK insurance is concerned, that is limited to a maximum of 5,000 euros per bike. Extra insurance however can be quoted for on demand.

Transit: We load up to 4 bikes in a van to ensure that there is enough space for safe loading and unloading.

Securing: As you probably realise it is completetely different to transport a bike in comparison to a common load. Even after using 200m of rope to secure it, if this is not done correctly it will drop on the first roundabout.

Drivers: We and all the drivers that we work with are keen motorcycle enthusiasts who know how to handle a bike.

Misinformation

We have seen a heap of inaccurate information on the internet with regards to purchasing and importing motorcycles within the EU.
Just to clarify things we’ve listed below the most important points.

Different regime compared to cars: The age of a bike is a major factor for the import fee. Older bikes have greater discount rates on the import fees.

New and Used Bikes: On new bikes on top of the import fee the VAT has to be paid as well. Used bikes only require the import fee.

Restricted Output: UK motorcycles are not and have never been restricted below 100 HP.

Importing from EU and NON-EU countries

Importing from EU member states
Importing goods from EU countries has never been easier. The main requirement from the importing companies is to make an official statement at the Tax Office Register regarding Transactions within the EU. Doing this will enable the supplier to deduct the VAT charge.

Importing from NON-EU countries
These are subject to import taxes.
We have teamed up with an experienced customs clearer who is able to deal with these cases and give an accurate quote as well as explain in detail the process.

Kamikaze Motorcycles: αγορά μοτοσικλέτας από Μεγάλη Βρετανία / Αγγλία
Acquittance procedure

The invoicing procedure is straightforward. First, we send the order to the manufacturer. The order is processed and then a preformatory invoice is sent via email. This is used at the bank to make the payment. Usually the proforma includes the shipping charges in case the manufacturer is involved in the shipping of the goods. Otherwise Kamikaze Motorcycles will provide another proforma or simply invoice when the goods arrive.

After the payment is made the manufacturer then sends the commercial invoice and the packing list. Usually for transaction within the EU these documents arrive with the goods. For transactions outside the EU the original documents have to be sent beforehand in order to have the necessary information for the importing procedure.

Requirements:

a. Your business must be registered at the Tax Office that it is involved in transactions within the EU (intracommunity supplies). This entails no cost and is usually done during the setting up of the business.

b. In October 2011, a new clause in the Regulations has made clear that greek businesses require a special banking code regarding transfering funds for trading purposes.

In order to complete the transaction the proforma is used and then your record at the Tax Office Register is updated.
